Commercial

Commercial Photography is used to sell or promote a product, This can include taking images for adverts, product placement or merchandising. This can also be used in leaflets and menus in cafes/restaurants.  A photographer called Olivia Brabbs Who is based in York is an commercial photographer, She specializes in People and Lifestyle photography. Olivia has taken images of baths, wedding/engagement rings and cottages. Bailey cooper is another commercial photographer who takes lots of images of food, people and buildings, such as pizza’s, sushi and lots of different buildings. Editorial

Editorial Photography refers to the pictures in a magazine that are not ads, The photographs that go along with the articles – even the cover of the magazine. Some photographers shoot only editorial type work, others shoot both editorial and commercial. Editorial doesn’t pay as good as Commercial, However editorial can be a lot more fun and creative. Sean Malyon is An Editorial Photographer who takes lots of images of Country life time theme. Advertising

Advertising Photography is taking images such as food and drink and other products. This is used to show awareness of a certain product or service to the public, to make them buy their products. Some good examples of Advertising photography could be adidas or Nike, or food and drink such as 7 up or Coca-Cola and things like Lego or Barbie, all products that have been captured as an image are to sell that product to the audience. Mike Harrington is a famous Advertising photographer who takes lots of images of certain brands such as virgin and Barclays and Microsoft. Micheal Molloy is also another advertising photographer who takes lots of pictures such as bracelets (pearl-lang) for ‘ a special valentines gift’ and culina chilled which is a type of drink, adidas shoes, blackberry phones and Nesquick cereal. Scientific

Scientific photography is about visualizing things that can't be seen with the unaided eye. Through scientific photography, a simple picture taken through a microscope can describe things to other scientists, but also to the public. This can be used to take images of fungi, bacteria, crystals and much more. Felice Frankel is an scientific photographer.  Who takes images of things like how bacteria grows and structures are formed.
